LGBTTIQQ2SAA Labyrinth press release

Perth, Ontario. September 22, 2012 is Pride Day in Perth and all are invited to journey through the “LGBTTIQQ2SAA Labyrinth” with local “speaker, writer, thinker” Calvin Neufeld from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at St. Paul's United Church, 25 Gore Street West. Doors open at 12:30 with Calvin plinking away at the piano.

This fun, informal and informative presentation takes a broad look at the big picture of sexual and gender diversity.  “I figured that Pride Day should not only be a day of celebration but also an opportunity to learn,” says Calvin, who as a trans man is no stranger to diversity. “There are so many colours to this rainbow, when you see them all together you can’t help but see something beautiful.”

Using stick-person drawings to evoke meaning from simplicity, this presentation will explore the multitude of identities, definitions, phobias and forms of discrimination, statistics and strategies for change. The event is free and accessible to “young folk, old folk, queer folk, straight folk and all folk in between.”

The schedule for Pride Day in Perth includes a scavenger hunt at 10:00 am, the LGBTTIQQ2SAA Labyrinth presentation at 1:00 pm, a picnic in Stewart Park beginning at 2:00 pm, and a Joplinesque concert at PDCI at 8:00 pm. For more information on Pride Day visit www.lgbtlanark.com.
