Gardening

Little green lives, like children to me,
Growing slowly, deliberately, elegantly.
Fragile and hardy, feeding and drinking unseen,
Inhaling polluted air and exhaling it clean.
Factories of food and beauty, tiny towers
Of life-giving fruit and love-giving flowers.
I wonder if they know,
As they grow,
How a giant like me can ponder them for hours.
