Penne Arrabbiata

3 c penne noodles (approx 375g)
1-2 onions, chopped
4-6 cloves garlic, chopped
1 or more red hot chilis (according to tolerance), chopped
1 T dried basil or a bunch of fresh basil
1 can diced tomatoes or fresh equivalent (more is better)

Heat oil at medium high and sauté onion and garlic for a few minutes. Add chilis, fry for a few more minutes. Add basil and tomatoes and cook approximately 10 minutes (feel free to add chopped cauliflower and/or broccoli here).

Meanwhile, cook pasta until very al dente then finish cooking in sauce for about 5 minutes more. Add a pinch of sugar, salt, pepper.
